First off, I want to say that we had a blast in Milwaukee at the board game convention there. We met some great people, saw some great gaming gear, met artists and developers and game enthusiasts, and did some awesome gaming! This is Nick. He was a volunteer at the convention and helped us run a smooth event. He also gathered some players and played in our daily tournaments. The prize was a spot in DOJO. Here he can be seen doing his best "Tipsy Monkey". This is a scene from our Saturday night tournament. A full game of 6 combatants duking it out to become a Master of the DOJO. Also seen here: Studio 6d6's "Cosmo Joe" - looking cool calm and collected(back left corner). They make custom dice(including the magic missile d4's and dedicated gaming tables, drool.... http://www.6d6studio.com Draiochtalabs' Jay Smith can be seen perfecting his "White Crane" style on the right. They were showing off some of their games at the convention, including Draiochta - their RPG system without boarders. http://draiochtalabs.org/draiochta-the-game/ Winner of the above game - I think he's demonstrating "Low Blow" here... Some great people that we gamed with! Got in a few really good rounds of Avalon, complete with a voice-over by a famous NEXUS attendee seen hear giving the bunny ears. Who can name this gaming celebrity?
Honorable Mention(no photo!?): Meeting and talking with Rob Wieland about DOJO. He listed our offering as "Favorite Item Available in the Vendor Hall". If you haven't checked out his blog(s) go do so! When Rob and I first began talking I had no idea he was a special guest at the convention. He was very gracious with his time and gave us some great things to think about with DOJO. I was bummed I didn't know how to play the Firefly RPG as I would have loved to have him as a GM for an rpg he had a hand in developing. 2nd Honorable Mention: Milcog. They brought in a truck-load of games for the guests to play. All free with admission to the NEXUS game fair. I hope we can make an appearance next year with fully completed copies of DOJO(and maybe another StrMod game or two...) to offer the gaming community. Game on!
